Koyama Ramen Shop visit

This evening my friends and I ventured to Sobudai-mae for dinner at the Koyama family ramen shop. Not only was the food great, but everyone was really friendly even before they discovered we were News and Koyama fans. So this is a brief report and some pics about our evening.

It was quite a memorable evening ...Collapse )

Mrs. Koyama speaks english? If that is so, then how come Koyama sucks at english? XD

She sounds like such a loving woman and a wonderful mother being so close to her son and being so proud of him. I would absolutely love to visit that place (it would be awesome if Koyama showed up) and speak to her.

Koyama is my favorite out of everyone I know from Johnnys =3

No, she doesn't speak that much English so we muddled through with a mix of our basic Japanese and their basic English.

awwwwww!!! that is an AWESOME memory. It's so great you got to converse with his mom! Did you talk in Japanese or English?
Oct. 28th, 2008 02:09 am (UTC)
It was mostly in Japanese, with varying degrees of English. Our Japanese isn't very advanced but we managed ok.

Aww, I'm glad you had a good time. Mama is really sweet. She doesn't speak English well, as I'm sure you noticed, but she tries. XD She can be super funny.

I agree with watchful21. Thanks for not being crazy. ;)

We explained that we had a friend in the fan club, and they were curious to know whether or not it was a Japanese person.

I think that's her way of asking if you're friends with any of her regular foreign customers. There are quite a bunch that she's friendly with. I've met some, and I'm sure there are lots of others I don't know.

You picked a good night to go. Fridays and Saturdays are usually crazy.

Did the waiter speak to you at all? There's only one who would- the others are pretty quiet. But the talkative one often tries English (not that he's any better than Mama).

Mama must appreciate that you're Koyama's fan. I think she's mostly amused by the fact that I'm a Junior fan. Once she randomly said to me, "Do you know Kyomoto-kun? That's his dad." And pointed at the TV. And I'm like "...ah."

And anyway, I should run to work. But I'm glad you had fun! :D

Yes she was happy that we were News fans but she got really excited when she realised that I was a Koyama fan. That really made her very happy, as she kept telling me.

That's so cool! Koyama's mom sounds like the nicest person ever! I didn't know she spoke English. I thought you must know Japanese or something. lol~ Reading this definitely makes me want to go there someday when I finally get to go to Japan!

sorry for the late reply, but I'm finally home from my trip. Yes, you do mostly need to know Japanese to speak with her. Our Japanese was just enough to get by and talk about the things that we did.

Awesome! I planned to go when I was in Japan in August but I had no idea where it is. Wasn't able to do research because I found out about the ramen shop when I got to Tokyo.

Anyways, the food looks great. Will definitely go next time.

Wow, that's awesome. You're from Australia too?

And I take it that you know Japanese if you could converse with Koyamama and the staff. XD

I'm glad you had a great time!

I'm slightly jealous though, I wish I could've gone to the concerts to see NEWS and get some goods...but alas, I'm still in the middle of my HSC. >__<

Anyway, I hope you have a great time on Satuday =D

I'm a bit late responding because I just haven't had a chance, and now I'm home and the trip is all over ... but I realise that I should have mentioned that we mostly spoke in Japanese. I have pretty basic skills in that area but enough to get by I guess, and she did try to use her English as best she could, but it's not very much.

I like Miso Ramen there. It's very delicious

And I agree with you that Keichan's mom is very kind. The most impression for me is she can remember me although long time we didn't see.

Thank you for the pictures.
